Question filling up

ok ive only had a diesel about a month but if i go to the pump it will shut off if im barley pulling the trigger. i just wanted to know if there is a screen or breather that could be doing this and how to fix it

only thing i do sometimes is pull the nozzle out of the filler neck a bit.. Sometimes that works.. other than that i just curse and keep going...or go to a full serve and let them wash my truck too when they blast the box side with diesel

As a temporary solution, try driving the drivers-side rear wheel up onto a chunk of wood (4x4/4x6 wedged on one end) when you fill up. I've never tried it, but have seen it mentioned here before.

northern 7.3, I think that these days, a short "blast of fuel" may waste more money than the free carwash is worth

My truck does the same thing. It can get very annoying...and ill admit it ive done the blast of fuel on the box side myself....only once though.

I would also like to know if there is something that can be done to stop this from happening?

yep, sure is something you can do if you want to go to the trouble of taking the fill tube loose from the truck and tank and removing the inner tube out. it gives you more room for fuel to go in. i'm assuming the front tank has this setup. i know the rear tank has about a two foot long inner breather type tube to let air out so it doesn't airlock(so to speak) while you're filling up. you might try that and see if it helps

Both tanks have the vent tube.
And both tanks will fill faster without it.
