That Behr concrete stuff is liquid phosphoric acid. In gel form it's known as naval jelly. It does not turn it into another form of metal but it changes the iron oxide (rust) into black iron phosphate which can then be rinsed off. After removal of the rust and rinsing, the metal must be immediately dried, treated, primered (preferably with an epoxy type primer) and painted. Otherwise, left untreated, the bare iron, exposed to oxygen will immediately begin to cover itself with the iron oxide although initially invisible to the naked eye.

What I did is I applied the liquid with a scuff pad and left it on for about 1 min or 2 and then I washed it down with warm soapy water then I dried the area quick and applied WD-40. I've been doing this for the past 3 years with not side efects on the metal.
We have also been doing this to this chevy way longer than mine.

ok were did you get the behr rust remover, walmart??
Sounds like it would be easier if you had two or more people helping you do it as well. Would it be safe to use inside the cab just let it air out before I got back in it and drove?
Thanks,
Luke

I got this stuff at home depot and yes you will have to let it air out before driving your truck.

alright i got a rust remover and worked it on my driver floor panel to see what all it would do.

before

underneath

inside

during

Then I waited about 30 minutes and then dried it with a towel.

I then sprayed a clear rust inhibiter and then a grey primer on after it.

Im going to do the whole floorboard after i get either a new rubber floormat or carpet. O and its not really for sale unless someone wants to give me 2k or more than what I got it for.
Thanks for the help!
Luke

For spots like that I would just hit it with a wire wheel first and then do the steps you did with the stuff you bought.
