Good Info.

hello all, let me start by saying theres a ton of good info on this site, i bought my 05 350 cc psd used of course because im not wealthy, and i love the truck but there seems to be a smell of antifreeze when driving under load.I know that sounds strange but i smell it in the cab under those conditions.ford dealer said they cant find a leak? by the way the truck has 70,120 miles on it and its stock except for the exhaust, cant afford a programer yet.any ideas, am i headed for head gaskets soon? has any one else had this problem? thanks for any info. FFF

I'm sure glad you started this thread. I have also been smelling anitfreeze during a long hard pull - but thought I was dreaming because I have never lost any water.

I drained and flushed the system at 50,000 miles and carefully measured the water level in the bottle for reference. BTW, 50,000 is way ahead of what Ford recommends.

I have now driven it another 50,000 miles and it still does it - but no loss of water. In addition, I have a Blackstone analysis done every oil change and have never had water in the oil.

I'm baffled, but not worried since it is still full of water. However, I will go check the valley in the morning.

To Fool, if you see wetness in the valley then you have an egr cooler, oil cooler or cooler hose leaking and should be covered under 100,000 mile engine warranty. If you found this and the dealer couldn't, I would be looking for another dealer to do the repairs.
