What is the biggest item to fit in the back of your excursion?

I am trying to figure out if a riding lawnmower will fit in my excursion so I don't have to take my 7 x 14 trailer on a my 300 mile trip.

The mower is 40" high 42" wide and 63" long. I haven't bought the mower yet just curious if it will fit!

With all the seats folded down, I can law 4x8 sheets of plywood completely flat with the spare tire still in place. If you move it, you can get a little extra width too.

So thats 48x96, so the width and length of your tractor will be fine. I don't know about the height though, but that should be pretty easy to measure. If it gets close, can you disassemble the mower some?

Hope that helps

As I look at this thread, there is a mower advertisement for the Mustang RZT mower, a zero turn...is that what your getting?

At 40 inches high, I would bet it does not fit. But if the seat is the highest part, you can remove that and it will fit. I think the height of the opening in the back is 36-38 inches. I know I was quite a bit short when attempting to load a washer with a 42" height.

Just because you are getting a 42" mower, it does not necessarily measure 42 inches wide. My 42" JD is 47" wide, though it cuts 42 inches (supposedly, never measured that). I barely loaded it onto my 48 inch wide trailer.

Good luck

Just measure the mower and your interior dimensions....I once hauled a sofa and table in mine with room to shut the rear doors.

I'm not sure I would want the gas fumes stinking up my truck and making me sick while driving... just a thought. I'd take the trailer.

My wife is wanting on of those new frontload $$ washers. She ask me last night if it would fit. I did not comment, then she told me she read somewhere about someone who got one in his Ex. Again, I had no comment. I would take the trailer if it was me unless you are expecting to be in some tight spots. Who knows, you may end up bringing home more attachments for it or better yet more tools.

I have hauled two sizable things. One was a snowmobile and the other was the hard top to a 04 Thunderbird.

I dunno how fast you plan on loading it back up after you use it but my buddy would load his mower into his Tahoe and he'd get pretty buzzed with it back there.

Reading the title of this thread brought back memories of when I was a young lad in Jersey...

I knew a guy who knew a guy who knew a brother of a cousin of a crooked nosed uncle of a guy with a blacked out Ex.

He told me this guy once hauled a pallet of CEMENT, a cement mixer, a bunch of shoe molds and some 'soft' 'lumpy' things in what looked like body bags to a job once...when he came home...the Ex was empty except for the molds and mixer...

So that told ME that a LOT can be hauled in an Ex!

Holy crap dude, that's a lot of stuff. Not to mention a LOT of weight.

Here's what that looks like for you guys (the pallet of concrete is only 2000K lbs, not a full pallet in my truck).

Sorry to hi-jack but damn that's a lot of stuff lol

I'm assuming that it is a new mower?? The fumes shouldn't be too bad. Besides the X has vent windows in the back for this.

If you run into a height issue, You can always take off the steering wheel and seat. If you still need room, YOu can deflate the tires. that will give you an extra few inches. I think it will fit.

I was able to fit (tires were deflated some) 2002 Yahama Zuma Scooter. Stood up on the stand and a few bungies and all was good.
