I Need a Picture - Carbed 460 Emissions

If anyone has a digital picture of a stock 85-86 carbed 460, please up load or send it to me in a PM. The picture needs to show how the emission components are installed to be useful to me.

It would sure be useful to me right now! Putting my engine configurartion back to stock.

Thanks for looking

I can get you a few varied/angled pics of my 85 F-350 460 emissions components, but unfortunately, not until I get home from work.

Coney,

This is the vacuum routing tag on my 460;

These are some pic's of my recent longblock swap;

460 Re-Power - a set on Flickr

If you need a specific view PM me and I'll send it to you.
The only thing that's not right is that my engine now has an Edelbrock manifold and the vacuum 'tree' is relocated closer to the thermostat housing.

Hope this helps and let me know if there's more you need.

IMG1825 is a pretty good view of the stock manifold and emissions with the aircleaner off.

E30tdf:

I sent you a PM. The only diff between mine and Jim's (ArdWrknTrk) engine is that mine is an 85 460. I have only the single smog pump and no air injector tubes going into the exhaust manifolds. I can send you addition pics if needed. Boy, Jim's engine sure is clean!

2E (Light Canyon Red)??

Mine's an '87, but as Ford went over to fuel injection and a serpentine drive mid year I think it's the same as any '86.

IMG1903 is a good view of the thermactor pipes going to the back of the heads, along w/ the EGR in place.

Need Help in Routing the Vacuum Lines

My truck was originally configured much like Jim's 87 with dual air pumps.

I could still use some close ups of the vacuum connections to the vacuum trees at the front of the intake, if anyone has one. The schematic is somewhat helpful, but I do not think the average guy like myself completely understands how to translate that into real hardware.

Being the smart fella that I am, I thought I could pass emissions without that stuff...WRONG AGAIN....:-)

Feeling kinda humble and even stupid for not taking more detailed photos myself.

Tom

PS...Before starting to reinstall the Air Pumps, I had a local exhaust shop stick a CAT in place as I needed a muffler anyway. That got me real close to passing. I was still slightly over limit on the CO though. I was at first thinking about just routing air from one of the pumps down to the CAT to light off the unburned fuel. Has anyone tried that?

This is from my '85 460 w/single air pump. The vacuum advance cannister vacuum source comes from the same port on the intake manifold, however, one hose passes through a restrictor in the vacuum line. The supply source for the EGR valve is a port located on the top left part of a holly/motorcraft 4180C.

Ok,

I made a new Flickr set with some pics I took this morning.

Vacuum lines - a set on Flickr

Sorry, I'm not talented enough to arrow, outline and mark up the photo's, but I have added captions to them.

Let me know how else I can help.

I may be able to pick you up the mounting bracket for the dual pumps from my local yard, if you can't find them. Just let me know

The Snow Ball Effect Continues

Hi Guys,

I need to make a set of the secondary smog pump brackets I guess since I don't have them. However, I don't even have the bennefit of knowing what the Ford Boys designed for this purpose. These would be the brackets on the 85-87 460s (dual air pumps, carbed) that hold the pumps from pivoting about the long bolt that fastens the pumps to the main bracket. They would also provide belt tensioning adjustment for the pump pulleys.

If anyone can provide a picture of their brackets, I would appreciate it. Else I'm just going to go with my best guess at what will suppoprt the pumps IMO.

The lastest in this tradgidy is that the pumps themselves have frozen up sitting on the shelf for 1.5 years.....yikes.....wish I had left this stuff alone.

If it works, DON"T FIX IT!

The inboard AIR pump is fixed, the out board AIR pump adjusts belt tension off the secondary alternator pulley.

Don't these help?
