Stacked plate coolers are much better than fin and tube.

I looked somewhat at these stack plates, do they make them for air? to use for an intercooler?

So why did/does Ford still use tube coolers Cost? serviceablilty?

I agree that stacked plate are better at cooling just wondering if you have an insight why they continue that path.

Ford just keeps making the tube coolers Bigger!!!
Stacked is more efficent and will be smaller for the same BTU.

Ford uses both types. The vehicles that don't need a lot of cooling seem to get the cheaper fin & tube. The vehicles that need more cooling have stacked plate coolers. Each program is decided on what works and what it costs. Cost is really important.

Mark

For this very reason i could never understand why the F-series guy's dont just use the E-series cooler. The OEM E-series is a great cooler, and its compact!

I like the Tru-Cool myself. It is a very easy install and keeps the tranny nice and cool.
