Exclamation Cylinder Heads for a FE390 Need Help

Well, I took my heads from a 390 F100 to the machine shop so they can inspect them, they just call me today, they say they need to replace valves and what not, the bottom line is that they are telling me that this will cost me between 600-750 dlls. Does this sound reasonable, also, if it is reasonable, will I be better off buying the edelbrock, which cost about 680 a piece, or does anyone knows of a place where they sell the heads assemble.

Thanks

I don't know if that is a common price, but you about half way to getting a new motor at that point.

If it was me, at that price I'd go with the Edelbrocks. Way to much money or you should be able to get rebuilt heads thru a rebuilder or a parts store. NAPA has rebuilt heads for $504 to $649, plus your heads. AutoZone has them for $202.99 to $283.99.

Well, I took the cylinder heads to get rebuilt, I bought the PORT FLOW Series Valves and the CRANE Spring & Ret. Kit Number 270-13309-1, I got them back on Tuesday. The machine shop had to replace about 4 exahust seats. My question is that when I took them home I notice that the head of 2 of the exahust valves did not seat fluch with the seats. Do they need to seat flush, the top of the valve with the top of the seat, or it all depends the lenght valve stem and the spring.

Thanks for any infor.
