Question on Ram Air Hoods?

Aside from looking totally cool do these things actually make a difference? I am thinking about purchasing a Goodmark (I think that was the name) Ram Air Hood. I am a little concerned about what happens if it's raining outside? Does all that rain get sucked into the engine as you're cruisin down the highway at 100 km/hr and will it buggar anything up? Please let me know... especially if you have one.

cartmanea is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Its only for looks unless you completely alter your intake system. Not worth the cost IMO, plus I just don't like useless cosmetic mods.

I would be adding the air intake system as well if there was a descent performance gain. I just wanted to hear from someone that had done the mod wether or not it made a difference performance wise or if it was merely cosmetic. If it's merely cosmetic I won't bother putting in the air intake as I already have a perfomance intake kit on there. I'm also concerned about water getting sucked in through the ram air function if it's raining.

bismic has a very good reputation on FTE. bismic has a very good reputation on FTE. bismic has a very good reputation on FTE. bismic has a very good reputation on FTE.
Few things are as repeated over the years on FTE as this one: Air intake mods ONLY help when getting into the 500 hp region. You will find only a few folks who attribute a mpg gain to their air intake alone. I am very skeptical of this since many, many more state otherwise.
