90 Aerostar 3.0L 2wd trans trouble

Hi kids I just purchased my 2nd 90 Aerostar 2wd 3.0L as is not running
The Van has been siting for over a year . I replaced the fuel pump & filter it's still up on the jack stands . Motor now starts & running great 135067 miles on it . Trouble is the trans is dead no RPM drop in any gear dipstick shows full no smell of burnt & still red . I removed a trans cooler line from the radiator, fluid not flowing . Im open for ideas ? ...................... From the stickers & very little paperwork I have found it looks to be well maintained .I can see a new water pump & hoses ........Thanks ........Steve

i know "kids" 65 years old, driving a new Corvette and snorting Viagra
none of those here Steve unless you bring some new knowledge?

is shifter mech. on side of tranny working? common failure

test tranny for ATF pressure. side plug on tranny and pressure gauge.

if not, probably a broken input shaft on tranny. common failure on early Aeros. FMC made the later shafts stronger

if you have spec. pump pressure, then valve body

Thanks for the info

Thanks for the info
All linkage is working well . I will check the ATF pressure but I have my doubts after removing a cooler line & seeing no flow. Is there a chance that the TC could be bad or dry? ......After running the motor with trans in gear for over 30 min the ATF & dip stick are still cold. Thanks again...............Steve

another possibility is intake filter has dropped off inside pan. will not allow pump to pull up ATF

don't run with no ATF flow pressure.
eats up the pump

The $$ as of today

1 1990 3.0L extended not running $300.00 cash

1 Fuel Pump Carter New $115.00

1 Fuel Filter Fram $15.00

1 case shell ATF Type F $28.88

1 Trans filter & Gasket Fram $16.98

1 Code Reader $29.99

1 Haynes Repair Manual 36004 $19.99

Yes I do think I can get it on the road for under a grand
some time next week I will crawl back under it & pull the pan after checking the pressure. Thank God my 1990 3.0 shorty keeps moving right along....
Steve P.S. Thanks again for the ideas

Sounds like the van I bought. It had a bad Torque Converter. The splines were stripped in it.

many many years ago some russian cars, trucks and buses had autos. Now they do not make autos purchising them abroad (ZF, Alisson). Russian autos had TC that were not welded but all parts of them were held with bolts. It waspossible to take it apart, change bad parts....Now these men, usually old having lathes at home cut torque converters, repare them. Now they have small firms reparing TCs....

Just an example....

update with pic & ?

Pan is off Filter intact My book don't tell me much.
Im confused I have no idea what these selinoids do
There is no voltage at the wires with key on & trans in any gear.
not much of an Ohm reading with wires removed .

Also on a different thought the door open & key in switch chime is not working. Just a update Thanks to all..........Steve https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/%....jpg%5B/img%5D
