need more power / torque

I have a 1994 F-250 with a 302 EFI with mass air and a E4OD transmission . The truck has to carry a service body also . I know this is alot of weight for a small block . I need to increase my fuel milage and power to carry my tools . The rear is a 4.10 ratio . I have been spoiled in the past with the past work trucks having 460 engines in them. I know that I won't get the same performance out of the small block . But it is what I can afford right now . The milage I am getting right now is around 13 miles per gallon . I have changed the engine out to one out of a wrecked 1996 F-150 with 125,000 miles . The old engine was worn out and used more oil than gas . Is there any modifications I can do to increase milage and power . Part of the stock exaust is still on the truck . Part was replaced due to being collapsed .

i would say 13 mpg is pretty good for that heavy of a truck witha low gear. man thats a tough one cause most of your power adders are gonna sacrifice mpg. you could try a full exhaust maybe a 3in single or 2.25 dual, and maybe a performance programmer of some kind.

Get some longtube headers and a single 2.5" exhaust on it, that will increase low RPM TQ which will help milage as well. This is about the only mod that will get you gains on both, just about everythig else will make milage worse.

Thanks for the help . After posting here I went outside to look my truck over . I found the the exhaust is stopped up at the muffler or the tail pipe leaving the muffler . I ran it long enough to see what areas were hot and what areas were cooler . I believe I will redo the whole exhaust system. Where can you find long tube headers for a ford truck ? All I have foud have been for the modular engines and small block Mustangs.
