time is coming up real fast to do a oil change on my truck, and I'm thinking of doing it my self. The oil I'm looking at is Shell Rotella T 15W40 comes in a 20l pail for $53CAD @ Canadian Tire. Is this stuff any good? And will the 15w40 level be good for summer conditions?
Also are there any step by step guides on how to change the oil in these kinds of engines?
If you can afford it I would recommend the schaeffer's 9000 or 7000. I've been quoted 16 a gallon for 9000, if interested let me know. As for changing your oil...it's about as easy as making a bowl of cereal. 36mm to get the filter cap off, pull the bolt out and let the oil drain, plug it back up, put in 14qts or so and check level on cross hatch, toss in the new filter and o-ring and snug it on. Beyond easy and you don't need a lift.
unsure of schaeffer's, or any of the other more expensive oils mentioned here, but rotella is good stuff if you're going the dino route. i was using it until i switched to cenex a few months ago, and i'll probably switch back before too long.

X2!
Get yourself a Fumoto Valve to replace your drainplug. They work great. Make sure the container for waste oil is large enough. The regular ones they sell for automotive at CT are NOT big enough. It says it is on the side (15L capacity), but they are not.

Here in Henderson, NV if you put oil in a see through container (Milk or water jug) and put it on the curb on recycling day they will take it. Very convenient, plus with the Fumoto Valve it is easy!
