Just maybe some of the sale people are beginning to open their eyes and do a little research. One of the farmer/ranchers at a neighboring pieces of property went out looking for a new truck last week. His current rig is the old 7.3 PSD, but has in excess of 200K miles on it. The sales person at the local Ford dealer said that he couldn't in all honesty recommend either a left over 6.0 or the new 6.4 PSD for how he uses his truck and the number of miles he put on it per year. He recommended he strongly consider looking at the V-10. Said it has proven to provide year after year of trouble free performance and much cheaper maintain to boot. Not to mention the initial savings over the diesel option.

Diesels prices arnt going to come down any time soon either, and that's without thinking about all the 1/2 diesels that are going to hit the market from Ford Dodge and Chevy. did he recommend a used or new? and 2v or 3v?
jkbrad,
Which dealers?? live in texas city but will teravel if I can find what i need, can you send some names or some zipcodes to try on forddirec.
Thanks,
Flounder
it's happening out here also. the dealers are showing people the v10 giving a optional motor that is cheaper to run and maintain.
if you went into a dealer not knowing about the v10. that could do almost the very same as the psd.[ really towing more pounds] cost $600.00 ver. the new very costly diesel " some where around 11k here now" with the most buy auto trans. how many would think more then 1 time.
here when i traded mine in a year ago it was on the lot one "1" day and sold. the guy who purchased it a local plumber. has told me. not one problem with now almost 100k on it's clock, gets the very same mpg's as his companies fleet of psd's. and is saving him a bundle on gas. ver. the cost of diesel. he has now traded up 3 of his f350's to the 08 v10's
" here right now gas is just over $4.00 a gal as of yesturday. and diesel just over the $5.00 mark .up 30 cents just in 3 days just this week.
when i asked if would buy another v10. without any hesation said YES! but also said i would not waste money on bigger rims and tires. and save that money also. he lifted it but found the bigger tires helped eat gas and dropped it back down to stock

I had a brain-fart today, and realized the small diesels in the 1/2-tons were going to meet soon-to-be-reality (after 2010) CAFE ratings for light trucks. Something like 28MPGs. The small diesels might make it, but the gassers won't.
Curiouser and curiouser...

Go to Ford Vehicles: Ford cars, trucks, SUVs, and crossovers click on F250s and F350s, then check the search dealer inventory option. Grande Ford has 3 F250s and 4 F350s. Jordan Ford has 3 F250s. Jennings Anderson Ford has several, Bluebonnet Ford has 3 or 4 V10s in stock. Try zip codes 78209, 78154, 78006 and 78132.
Most of those trucks are Lariats and King Ranchs. There are a few XLTs. I've been trying to help a couple of guys at work find one.
Was looking at a auto magazine in the doctors office today and saw Audi is going to put in a V12 diesel engine in a vehicle, not sure if it's a suv or car.I got called into the doc's and left the magazine without finishing it.I believe i read it's in or around 400-500 horses.
First want to thank JKBRAD for his san antonio leaad, found a couple thereand was willing to make the trip. However when Igot home friday I found one listed at the local dealership which made the cut, it is a lariat as opposed to the fx4 I was looking for but some of the extra nicetioes make up for the camel interior.
only problem is they cant find it yet, apparently ford puts them at the dealer whenn shipped, but it hasnt made the truck ride from the train station to the dealership yet. So am waiting ANXIOUSLY for a phone call to go look at it.
WISH ME LUCK!.
P.S.
trhedealer did say that more people are turning to the v10 with the diesl prices
You damn sure right about THAT! But they (Ford) are morons.
They have a 4.4 that's slated for the F150. Supposedly.

That's exactly what happened to me. I knew about the truck before the dealership and was trying to do a dealer trade. I kept calling the dealer and they said, yeah, we've got it but before I went down there I asked them to confirm. It took a couple days and I got a call that it was there...still on the truck, from just coming in. It was kind of funny, but the dealership where it was headed just couldn't figure out where it was. I even had the VIN and they couldn't find it. Anyway, it worked out. It was such a good looking truck the dealership ordered another just like it, and the dealer doing the trade did too, except a diesel of course It was the first one like it at either dealer (nothing exceptional, they just hadn't gotten that two-tone combination before).

And if it produces the "claimed" 325/520 numbers then I'll eat my words. However...I doubt it would stack up to the V10 diesel from VW. I dunno...I just like the sound of "V10 diesel". Sounds cool.
It would forever end the "V10 versus diesel" threads! "Which one should I get, V10 or diesel?" ... Hey get BOTH!
