5/60 warranty- what years?
I seem to recall in 2006 when the 07s came out with the 5/60 drivetrain warranty Ford make the warranty retroactive to some or all of the 06s. Anyone else remember this? Or am I just dreaming.
06 Truck, w/ 49,900, goes into the shop for a rear-end like whine this week. The dealer has replaced the rear end twice, axel seals another time. Last Sept/Oct w/ 36,700 the pinion seal was replaced. Dealership said it was out of the 3/36 but covered it under what I believed was the 5/60. Around the same time I also purchased an ESP-but I know that wasn't used as I didn't pay any deductible or file any claim.
Fast forward to April- there have been a few changes at the dealership. New service manager is hesitant to look at it under warranty. I am covered under the ESP but If it's not under warranty I'm hesistant to "pay" a shop that has done work that has not held up.

12k or 12 months warranty on repairs.
Near the point of having another shop do the work, but wanted to exhaust options w/ this local dealer 1st. Up until my last communication w/ them they have provided excellent customer service.
I wonder if it is a rear-end failure again would the wear marks on the gears(if any) indicate an incorrect installation? If so, would the shop that did the work be on the hook- I suppose it goes to the 12k/12mnth warranty. But perhaps a useful bargaining chip.

Don't try and use logic on me. The wife has tried many atime - never works.
I'll look in the morning- but I'm pretty sure it'll read 3/36- truck was built 11/17/05- went into service 12/07/05 and I bought it w/ 8,400 miles on 9/15/06.
I do have some more homework to do- such as call the ESP people to see about having a non-Ford shop do-it. I wonder why the rear end is problematic. I've owned a few Ford trucks and never had a rear-end failure. I don't tow and usually drive for milage.

Ford Adds Two Years to Powertrain Warranties
I bought my 06 in March of 06 and got 5/100k powertrain warr. w/ deductible at no additional cost. I guess Ford was doing 5/100k for a short period early in 06, at least regionally.

Get an Oasis report for your truck, if you haven't already seen it. I don't have a single piece of paper that mentions my powertrain warranty from when I purchased the truck. It does however show up on the Oasis report. That Edmunds article isn't the only one mentioning that warranty info that I've read.
Odd.
