C6 kickdown problem

I recently replaced the manifild and carb in my 66 f100 352 / C6. I purchased a kickdown cable and installed it adjusting the cable to pull back on the lever ( toward the rear of trany ) at WOT it pulls the lever all the way back. I have no kickdown, i dont remember it kicking down before but it didnt have muchlow end grunt with the 2 barrol anyways, now it has a lot more low end power and would like it to kickdown when the 2nd barrols kick in.Am I not adjusting the cable correctly ? it shifts up great and down at stoplights, just doesnt seem to want to kick down when I punch it. Any Ideas ?

I found our Kick Down Lever that goes into the transmission was only spot welded at the factory and the weld had broken. This allowed the lever to rotate freely and not engage the transmission. I was able to drop the transmission pan, filter, and the valve box with all of the shifting controls (be careful not to tip or drop this (I heard there were small BB like devices that could be lost), and then I was able to replace the lever. It rides inside the shifter lever. I should have put a new seal in for this shaft area, now it is seeping a little fluid. I took the old one to a transmission shop and they matched it with a used one for $5.00.

I feel resistance on the lever and it looks to be moving the whole piece .Is the lever suspost to rotate Clockwise or counter clockwise ? I have it set up to pull clockwise.

Counter clockwise. I use a Lokar cable, it bolted to the top rear of the tranny and pulls the arm up - i.e. counter clockwise.

I'll have to look into the Lokar cable. It would be nice to have the kick down again!
