How much did the cummins conversion cost you guys? Im seriously thinkin about it I just don't know if it would be easier to just buy like a 99 F250 or put a 12v cummins in my 76 250.

Whats all involved with the conversion? Sorry if someone already asked this but i tried checking

Here is a link that is pretty detailed, I think it will give you a good idea of what is entailed in the conversion.

a little off subject but I saw a post in the Performance trucks forum that said Mustang vs. Lightening which is faster? well most of them said Mustang is better with a few mods but you can't pull 5k with a Mustang. anyway a few posts later somebody said I "owned" some guys in Mustangs and Lightenings with my HEMI. someone said lets take that HEMI and put it up against my Powerstroke.....HAHA. well I couldn't resist and I said that doesn't make any sense a Powerstroke vs. a HEMI, why don't you put that Powerstrike up against a Cummins.......(once again that's a burn).

Any of you guys considering this swap, there's another source for the conversion engines: old school buses. You can buy a 12 to 15 year old school bus that old school districts are taking out of service for about $2000 or so. That is going to include an Allison transmission as well. One of those engines is going to have 150K or so on it, but it won't be hurt.

Just another source to consider.

Lead Head is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE. Lead Head is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
The only problem with school bus engines, be it International, Cummins whatever, is that those engines are pushed hard, and are way underpowered for what they are pushing around.

My bus driver told me that between each stop to pick up kids, and when getting on the highway, the bus is held at WOT, he said around 3/4 throttle will get you about 40MPH, and full throttle will get you upto 62MPH. So those engines are pushed hard. If you do go that route, it would be a good idea to check for signs of a tired engine, such as blue smoke on start up, excessive blow by, odd sounds, etc..

I haven't gotten any where yet. I'm trying to sell my 91 7.3 and we've been pretty busy in the field getting everything planted. I've been half heartedly trying to sell it through craiglist but I'll put it at my friends house on the highway later this week.

I have >50K miles on mine as a daily driver. I love it! No swap related problems once I got the gunk out of the tanks.
