Bronco Hemi Swap

If you have to ask this question, it's going to be really hard.
Do you weld? Do weld well? Do weld 1/4" thickness steel well?
Are your investments yielding in such a fashion as to provide a steady stream of cash well in excess of your needs?
Are you good at fabrication?
Are you going to run the stock engine or is it sporting a 6-71?
Are you just repowering or are you building a racer?
Do you have access to hoists, jacks, clean & safe place to work?

I weld.
I weld O.K.
If I did it I would borrow a better welder and a freind who welds better.
I am good at fab and "redneck engineering" and know people who could help.
It would be a stock rebuilt 392.
It would be a neat street cruiser with the occasional mud bog.
I am pretty much looking for ideas.

Well, it won't be cheap or easy. A lot of 354s and 392s got used up drag racing. Remaining units are prized by the restoration crowd. You can find an air raid siren with a 331 in it, but good luck making power with that.
These babys, even the 331, weigh over 700 lbs. The highest stock hp for the 392 with 2 4bbl was 390 horse, gross hp and so that translates to about 312 hp net.
If you build it stock--what's the point? If you are going to take advantage of that 700lbs and make a fire breather, well, shall we say, more power to you.
You'll be on the road faster, going faster, with a fatter wallet, if you build a 400 with a straight up cam, some compression and a decent intake and headers.

Good luck.
