PCM Reflash

Without "stickers", how can you determine when the PCM was reflashed? Also where can you find information regarding the latest reflash version?

good question. When I had my 04 I had the PCM reflased. Everyone said that the dealer should put a sticker on the pcm but I never did see one. The only way I know or at least think they did it was the service receipt that they gave me.

ReAX is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
There should be a label on the PCM itself with your calibration code. It's not as easy to see as the one that should be on the door, but it's less likely to come off.

Look, see these two tow hooks? They look like tusks. And what kind of animal has tusks?

there's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I like to think that I walk that line every day of my life.

The problem is he was asking if it has been reflashed, and I've found that dealers often do not place a new decal on the vehicle.

Ken,
can't we pull up fords long pcm i.d. code with our flashers and convert it? i been having brain farts latly and can't remember what the term is to convert long to the 4 dig number say smp2

guys also you can look up your old pcm code here http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdi...&menuIndex1=26 and then find the latest flash 4 dig. i.d code. i know that this helps big time, as i had many without proper stickers come into the shop before i fully retired this year and that list saved my six big time.
GUYS USE caution flash with the wrong code . you will be asking for costly to repair problems

when a dealer updates the ford code.the lists are pulled out and redone by computer right to ford and always reflashed to the latest pcm code out at the time of the service

Called the local Ford dealer and was told that the only way to determine the current PCM calibration on my truck, is to bring it in and have it connected to the computer. At a cost of $120. They also could not or would not tell me the date of the latest PCM release/update. Nice!

First thing to do is get the current code from your local dealer. Question.... why do you need the code?

The tranny shifting is a bit rough and some others have claimed that a PCM reflash fixed the problem. However, if my PCM verison is up-todate then the reflash is moot. I just do not want to spend my beer money on a wasted computer update.
