Sticking Solenoid

There's never a dull moment driving these old trucks! One person said every time he gets in his truck to drive across town it was like Columbus crossing the Atlantic. You never know what adventure lies ahead.

My problem is the stuck solenoid. I have had two instances in the past 4 months where after starting, the solenoid sticks and the starter continues to crank. After pulling the negative cable out of the terminal, I promptly replace the solenoid (and battery cable) and life is good again. I even dissected one to verify the fused contacts.

Does any one know of a heavier contact solenoid I can use that looks period correct and wont burn my truck to the ground? I actually saw that happen once.

The problem is with the quality of the auto parts sold today.

Most of the chain stores autoparts come from C-H-I-N-A, and are C-R-A-P.

Look for one made in the US of A.

NC: Give Dennis Carpenter a call, mebbe he has some GEN-U-INE FORD ORIGINALS. / EDIT: Green Sales has 10 = 800-543-4959

B6AZ-11450-A .. Starter Solenoid (Motorcraft SW-3) ~ Fits 1956/79 all cars & trucks.

1956/67 = marked FoMoCo in script on the metal bracket. In demand because these are correct for early Mustangs, HiPo Galaxies, '56/57 Birds, other collector cars / 1968 and later = marked FORD on the bracket.
