FORD MEGA CAB!!! is starting off with a positive reputation.
Arrow TCM question for e40d

I finally installed the Banks Sidewinder system and it works great. But now the transmission drives me even crazyier than before!!! I can't stand it floating around at 3300 rpm for a second or two before shifing. Can these stock TCM computers be reprogramed or new prom put in that would make it shift at like 2800-3000 rpm and right when it hits that rpm and not 2 seconds later. Is The delay even the tcm or is it in the transmission valve body. It shifts real solid so its not slipping. I think someone has asked this before but I can't remember what the issue was. Thanks and have a great day.

So basically its shifting really soft at full power, correct?

If thats the case, you need a shift kit. Adding a sidewinder increaces the torque beyond what ford programmed the PCM to aco**** for. The best thing to do would be to put a mild to moderate shift kit in there. You can get banks trans command that electronically raises the line pressure, but I don't think thats a very good idea compared to making the changes in the valve body.

As for your question, I don't think the stock PCM is programmable unless you are advanced in electronics.

ford trans tech is starting off with a positive reputation.
it cannot be reprogrammed or have a prom changed
you are getting into a conflict between the processors basic strategy the adjustment of the fipl sensor and the engines governor
try adjusting the fipl
loosen the two torx head screws in the fipl plate and slight rotate it in a clockwise direction looking at it from the drivers side
and mind you only slighty a little goes a long ways and too far and the transmission will shift too soon and too soft and damage it

No, It shifts really hard witch it just seems to float around at 3300 rpm for awaile before "banging" in the next gear at full throttle. As for the Banks trans command, It came with the sidewinder kit. It was the first thing I put on 3 months ago and it did make it shift harder at full throttle even without the turbo. As for the shift kit, If I go that route I will just get a built up tranny and torque converter. Im sure this tranny has been in here a long time or its stock so it probably wouldn't hurt anyway.

I will try to readjust the fipl and see what happens. You said try not to make it shift too soon, is 2800 to 3000 rpm too soon of a shift because thats where I would like it to be?

Thanks for the input.

OK, trans tech had the right idea then. That sounds like the FILP setting. I don't think 3000 RPM is too low, should work well there.
