Very nice....one thing I highly recomend...get a full width floormat...anything to cover the original and protect it.
As to the bumper you mentioed in prior post...if you do change them...Im in need of a good front bumper like that truck has...
Also, on the rear license plate mounting...it looks like its out a bit from the gate and appears that it would hit the gate with it open...move it more inboard so its well under the gate w/o messing paint up when its opened.
As for the steering wheel cracks...very common...the seat isnt the original material/style of covering used either...it looks very nice though :-)
Very nice soild looking Slick. Reminds me of when I first bought my 65, minus the nice green paint; mine was primer when I first got it. Its in my gallery...
Thanks for the input. I want to put carpet in the truck to cut down on noise. Should I pull the old flooring out or leave it in? It has a hole in it already near the gas pedal.
Well I think the carb is original or at least correct. The air filter no so much. The one thing that does look funky to me.. and only because I've never seen it as such. Is the fuel pump... is it me or is that thing on upside down ?
Pop the air cleaner off of it...there should be a metal tag on the top with some codes on it...if theres a sticker or remains of one, thats most likely a reman. carb.
On the base of the carb flange, there should be a 4 character code of letters and numbers. You might wanna get some carb cleaner and clean the flange if theres no tag on it to see if that carb is most likely the original one or not.
Knowing the deal you got on that truck makes me want to cry... beautiful truck. I suggest you fix only what needs to be fixed right now, like the horn. Drive it for a month or two to get a good feel for it before you start changing it up. Like putting carpet in it - a lot of us here would put up with the extra noise to be able to look down and see that original mat!
Some things to check for noise would be how the exhaust is hung, if the cab mounts are good, and all the seals - around the doors, where the steering column comes through, all the wiring grommets, etc. Also check the transmission and rear end for proper lube levels.
