The temperature is fine while driving (about 180-185), but starts to heat up in traffic, it got to 230 last night. I thought this set up would be more than enough, but it has not even started to get hot here! I am leaning towards trying to put in a taller , 24 high instead of 19, one since I will need to do some modifications due to a 2” body lift.
I do not have any parts, so I would need a new radiator, shroud, and fan assembly if I go that route.
So, I would like words of wisdom. What would you all recommend? I would like to keep it as cost effective as possible, but it MUST work. Thanks in advance!
If the fans are set up on a thermostat, I would play with the off/on setting or try a toggle switch to kick them on. If they are already on with the key, either more fan or more radiator. Greg

The Super Cooling radiator is the way to go, but both it and its fan shroud are very hard to find.
Super Cooling radiators used a different core support, so to install a S/C radiator in a truck that didn't come with one, you have to trim away some metal in your present core support for the radiator to get enough airflow.
I am going by the local Pick and Pull to see what they have. The truck has been a two-year project with my son, frame up, and I would like to stick with new/reman parts as much as possible.
The fans are set to go on at 180, and they turn on between 180-185 by the guage.

Find a fan at the local Pick and Pull and use a clutch?
I am pissed I wasted the $ on the aluminum and fans, we learn by doing.

It's EZ to tell a S/C radiator from the others when it's still in a truck, or not.
The top tank on the S/C radiator is almost 6" wide, about 2" wider than the A/C radiator.
S/C radiators were used from 1968 thru 1979. Besides the 360/390's, the 460's used the same one: D3TZ-8005-G.
All Ford fan shrouds are marked on the upper drivers side corner. The mark is molded into the shroud.
S/C radiator shroud: MARKED: D4TA-EB / A/C radiator shroud: MARKED: D3TA-CA (this is the shroud that's still available from Ford).
Sitting in traffic: Not anymore, I'm retired.
I don't venture from the house till 10AM. and am back by 2PM, times which usually avoid the horrid traffic conditions.
btw: I'm in LA County, not the city. It doesn't matter where you live, the traffic is awful no matter where you go.
LA County: 8 million ppl have taken up residence here, and that not counting the estimated 2 MILLION illegals!
LA traffic = IMO, it's not as bad as San Francisco, and compared to Toronto, it's a piece of cake.

best setup i found for cooling is go with a fan clutch and 8 bladed fan, find the fan in a wrecking yard, and use the electric fans as pushers, that works on my jeep and can feel the difference when i switch them on.
