Sudden loss of braking

When I got in my truck yesterday and started down the parking garage. My brake pedal was hard and I had very limited brakes. I was close to the dealer so I took straight there using my parking brake that worked normal.
The dealer found a vacum leak behind the intake. Because of its location the intake had to be removed. In short $430.00. I have a 2005 crewcab xlt with 45,000 mi. The part was not covered under my extened warranty. Has any one else had this happen. I don't think that a normal wear item that can cause sudden loss of braking is very safe. I still love my truck.

I have never seen that before at all. The hose on the back actually has a clip on it so it does not come undone. This may sound wierd but maybe it just was not clipped on all the way from the factory?Or have you had any work done on your truck that required the intake to come off?

I have had a bad fuel injector replaced, and the cam phasers replaced, that was all done about 2 years ago. Maybe they just did not get things back together correctly.
