37" spare tire? what do u use?

what do you all with large tires use for a spare tire? with a tire/wheel combo at $800 a piece its hard to justify getting a 5th wheel as a spare.{at least it is until your stuck in the middle of nowhere, and who stocks 37's?}. is there a cheap alternative? was wondering if i put the original spare {32"} in the front and kept in 2 wheel drive it would be ok? at least till i get home? getting a beach sticker soon and one thing they check is a spare tire...

I was planning on doing the same thing. As long as you have two of the same diameter on the back your limited slip will be ok . And your hubs unlocked .
Whats the biggest size tire that will fit under the truck?

I have 38.5's and a 38" spare. The guys at 4wheel parts gave me one used tire for a spare.

I don't run 38's.. but when I ordered my wheels I ordered 5. Replaced 2 of my older BFG's and kept 1 for a spare.

I got a Fabtech spare tire mount and had a welder fab this up for me, it uses the 2 bolts that the tie down bracket uses so I didn't have to drill:

Minor adjustments are still needed, the blue Fabtech cap needs to be centered on the wheel and the mounting bolt needs to be flipped so the good side of the wheel will face outward.

It does create a blind spot, I would have put it on the other side but I have my hi-lift jack mounted there.

I found this to work well for me, and can haul my quad at the same time. Holds up to a 40" tire.

I swing it inward when not hauling the quad around, works great and easy to work with.

thedaddycat is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
One thing to take into consideration is that if you get a matching spare tire/wheel you can then do a 5-tire rotation. This should extend tread life by 20% and you will not have to worry about changing two tires(due to mismatched size) if you get a flat on the rear. Is it worth the extra money? That's entirely your call....

For a cheap 37" spare, get one and put it on one of your stock wheels.
