Super Crew, XL, 5.4, 4x4 ???
A buddy of mine went the other day to purchase a Ford. He wanted a base XL with rubber mats, vinyl seats, etc, 4 Door, 4x4 and a 5.4. Basically a big work truck that would pull a load. The dealership told him that he could only get the small V8 with this configuration. This seems very strange to me. Why would Ford not offer a big engine for a 'Work' truck. This seems like the very truck you would want a big engine in, so you could work.
Because of this, he has now gone to looking at other brands (possibly even a Toyota) )

You can't get a crew cab in STX, the only way you can get a Crew cab 5.4L is in XLT and above. Personally if he could find a leftover 07, he could probably get for about 27-29K.
I just built a 08 Supercrew XL and it came to $32,450 I put on nothing except, trailer tow package, 35.7 gallon fuel tank, cruise control and running boards.
XLT same configuration, it came to $36,040, I added trailer tow package, 35.7 gallon fuel tank, running boards.

I was so surprised when I ran across an XL Super Crew a month ago at the local dealer. I had no idea they had started building those. My euphoria lasted about 30 minutes. When I got home I attemped to build one on Ford Direct. I sat looking at the screen in shock when I figured out vinyl was not even an option. If the XL SCrew was available with vinyl, I would really consider it. I personally will not own a truck with cloth.
