I had a SnapOn mt2500 hooked up, found no problems. So we then ran a cylinder contribution test and found codes P0272,P0278,P0640. What is this telling me?
P0272= cylinder 4 contribution balance fault
P0278= cylinder 6 contribution balance fault
P0640= intake air heater control circuit
I can see what the codes are but what do they mean
NA26 CYLINDER NON-CONTRIBUTING
Note: A/C must be off when running KOER Cylinder Contribution Self Test.
Possible causes:
broken compression rings
inoperative injector assembly
leaking or bent valves
bent push rod
broken rocker arm bolts
bent connecting rod
Go to Section 4A or Section 4B , Diagnostic Subroutines, and perform Steps 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 9, 10a, 10b, 11, 11a, 11b, and 12.
If you PM me your email address I'll send you the subroutine tests. Too big to attach here.
Yea, I didn't look at his post count. I sent an email to him through FTE to try and get his email. We'll try it that way. I gotta start paying more attention.
Just start checking everything out. It could turn out to be something simple and easy. Make sure you let us know what you find. It will help the next guy in your position.
I will tear into it this week end.
What will happen if you unplug an injector while the motor is running.
Is numbers 2468 the passenger side of the motor?
How does the tuck run? Does it smoke? I don't know how well the infra red thermometer test would work for diagnostics like that, but if I remember I'll try and get some readings off my engine tomorrow for comparison purposes.
Runs like crap
at idle when warm it smokes bad(smells of raw fuel)
misses up to around 2750 then you cant hear the miss, but then the smoke turns dark
if you listen to the cold air intake you hear a woof woof woof sound
