Tool box organization

My tool box is a MESS!!!! What do you all recommend for straightening up my box? Do they make something where all my wrenches and sockets would fit into that is the size of the drawer? It's diving me nuts having tools go all over the place in there!!

There are tons of options for that, from just socket rails to complete organizing systems. Northern Tool, Pro Tool, Performance Tool, and Harbor Freight all have these systems online and in their catalogs.

There are plenty of options for tool box and workbench organization but I think it all comes down to self discipline. I have never been able to stick with it for very long and my tools are a disaster area. I'm hoping to straighten everything out soon and try one more time to keep everything in its place, good luck getting organized.

I've tried a bunch of those "organizers" but always go back to my old habits. My newest approach is another toolbox so there is more room and the drawers aren't stuffed. So far so good but it all comes down to tking time to clean up and put things back.

my best advice is have a specific drawer for things. ive tried the socket rails but if your hands are greasy they tend to not want to come off. there is the ones that the sockets just set on, but when you slam the drawer they all go flying anyways. i think if yoiu can keep things in a specific drawer you wont spend as much time looking for them and it makes clean up so much faster.

I have specific drawers for different tools such as one for wrenches one for pliers. Three drawers for sockets one for standard one for metric and one for deep sockets (sae and metric) and i use craftsman socket organizers. They are labeled, easy to remove the sockets from them, easy to tell when one is missing. The wrench holder i made myself with some scrap wood and a compound mitre saw.
tools pictures from friends & fun photos on webshots
P.S. The missing sockets in the pictures are either ones I dont have yet, or are in use. I didnt tidy up and put everything away just to take some pics.

I use Hanson socket trays (the ones with the size on the pins that stick through the sockets). I have all of my chrome in the top and all of my impact in the top drawer of the bottom. I use wrench rails and racks. You need to designate drawers for specific types of tools. Having a place for everything makes life easier. You don't have to hunt for what you need, and you can tell if something is missing.

One thing I do is to keep all my screwdrivers in one drawer. The phillips head all face left and the flat head all face right. Helps to find what you need quick.
