Swapping 4wd rearend with 2wd

I have a 1994 4x4 F150 with automatic transmission. I need a rearend and have found one off of a 1996 two wheel drive truck. Will I run into any problems with the year difference or the 4wheel to 2wheel difference? Also do I have to worry about a sensor on the rearend that affects how my transmission shifts?
This rearend is a 3.55 and my truck is currently a 3.31, but I would rather have the lower gears, so I would also have to change the gearing of the front axle. Is this swap worth it or should I try to find a rearend with the 3.31 gears and not worry about having lower gears? Money is an issue also.
Thanks in advance.

The complete rear axle is a direct swap, no difference at all between 2wd and 4wd versions, or the year for that matter, all have the RABS/speed sensor. To change the front gearing all you need is the pumpkin off a 4x4 truck, it's a ton of work to get the side axles out but otherwise a bolt-in swap.
