Oh my god that thing is fresh! I actually didn't have such a nice truck pictured in my mind since you first described it.

Beautiful '65 F100, especially for $2600!!!!!!!!

God any pics of the engine compartment, drivetrain, underside, interior, etc.?

Just so long as no one gets the wrong info from lookin' at these pictures, several of the features are not original to the time period.

The wheelcovers are D2AZ-1130-J (replaced D1AZ-1130-A), 15" wheelcovers which originally fit 1971/72 LTD's and were optional on F100/350's (yes, F250/350's) from 1971 thru 1979.

To install these wheelcovers on F250/350's, here what the trick is, and Ford did this at the factory (dealers did this, too).

The optional 16" trim ring (D2TZ-1210-A) was first snapped on the wheel, then the wheelcovers were snapped into it.

The left hand outside mirror looks exactly like: D5TZ-17696-A, first offered as standard equipment on 1975 F350 Super Camper Specials and optional on other models, including 1978/79 Bronco's.

This mirror was only available in stainless steel, the mirror head is replaceable: D5TZ-17723-A. The mirrors are the same right & left, just spin the mirror head's goose neck arm around.

This exact same mirror was used thru 1996 on F Series trucks and Bronco's.

The rear bumper on this truck is an aftermarket, not Genuine Ford.

The guy who painted it was Jim Ousley of Roswell Collision Center in Roswell, GA. He's still got to wet sand the truck and buff it some and he's going to paint the interior metal and white out the FORD on the tailgate. I am looking for a rear bumper for the truck now but I want to wait on it because I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the white grille or go with an aluminum grille and chrome bumpers. If that is the case, I will offer the bumper and grille up for sale. They are absolutely perfect, no dents no dings and no scratches.

The interior is a little rough so far as scratches to the metal and some very minor surface rust. The seat, which you can a little of in the pictures, has been recovered and it matches the paint on the truck. I'm not sure if the original seat cober matched the paint or not but it doesn't have holes in it so I am happy about that. It looks like new. The floor cover has the gear and lightning bolt embossed on the center and it is in decent shape but I think I want to put some carpet in the truck to keep the noise down. It doesn't have a radio but I have an ipod so it's all good. I'd like to replace the door handles inside and out and replace the window cranks. The biggest issue I see is the inside of the door. It is rusted out wherre the window sweeps used to be. How hard is that to replace? It also needs new door gaskets. I adjusted the doors yesterday and they close like brand new but the seals are dry rotted.

The horn doesn't work. The choke has been disconnected but so far I haven't needed it. The light on the speedo went out last night, which was a little aggrevating but I assume it is an easy fix. The main problem is the wipers don't work. I'm going to check the fuses today since it's supposed to rain tonight.

Thanks for the compliments. I like the ol' Slick.

Dan

OK iw as going to say it's been to MAACO before but I see someone 's have covered that. But hey!!!! Man that is one sweet looking ride. Ditch the mirrors and get the orig chrome sporties on there would be one thing but that would require body/paint work.. Awwhh hell fix the brakes and keep on top f the lube and tune and enjoy some of Henry's finest will yah!!

Thanks for the inspiring picts... I start taking mine apart this winter and hope for a similar finished product.

How do you know the wheels aren't correct?

Ford used several different wheels on 1965/66 F100's.

Some use hub caps with external mountings-the tabs are on the outside of the wheel center (1964/79).

Some use hub caps with internal mountings-the tabs are inside the wheel center (1957/67).

Original B/W or W/W tires: Coker Tire / Lucas Tire are two suppliers that sell them. More tire companies are listed in Hemmings Motor News (hemmings.com).

1" to 1 1/2" wide W/W's is correct for 1964/75 vehicles.

Cars: thru 1952, 5" wide W/W tires were the norm.

By 1960, the W/W width was down to 2 1/2"

It dropped to less than 1 3/4" in 1963.

(How do I know? I have 1000's of factory photo's - don't ask - y'all should know by now I'm a nut!).

F100's from circa 1964: W/W tires became an option for the first time.

Prior to 1964, they were installed by the dealer, if the customer wanted them.

AFAIK, no vehicles come with W/W tires today. If someone wants W/W tires on their new rides, there are several suppliers that sell them in P Metric radial sizes.

Vogue Tyre is one company that still makes them...you see these tires on Cadillac's, Lincolns, and other modern piles....driven by Uncle Fudd and Aunt Ethel types (old old pharts) from time to time.

Vogue Tyres: 2" wide W/W with a 1" GOLD band.

LOL...I'm just a dumb cluck who can read a parts catalog, and have myriad other sources of info.

I'm also the original owner of my 1965 F100, which puts me in the old (crabby) phart catagory here on FTE.

Dan, are you going to the F100 Supernats truck show & SWAP MEET in Knoxville TN May 15-17?

Tis a great place to look for goodies for your pickup.

Man..I wish I could. I have no doubts that the truck would make it without a problem. I'm just saving my vacation days for a trip to Orlando with the kiddies next year.

I'm tearing ebay and my AMEX up right now buying stuff for it on ebay. I am also scouring craigslist and if it's cheap enough and local, I'm just buying it and cataloging it in case I need it in the future. I ma having a good time with this truck.

I think I'm gonna look for another truck soon. I want to make this one stock and the new one a hot rod. My wife thinks I'm sick. I just point out that I could do whatever I wanted to 2 trucks and still have way less in them than I did the Hummer. She's cool with that.
