I think I'm gonna look for another truck soon. I want to make this one stock and the new one a hot rod. My wife thinks I'm sick. I just point out that I could do whatever I wanted to 2 trucks and still have way less in them than I did the Hummer. She's cool with that.

Well if your wanting to ROD one you might wanna swing by the FE 332-428 forum. FE & FT Big Block V8 (332, 352, 360, 390, 406, 410, 427, 428) - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
Guys in there will be glad to share their input and spend your $$ like it's growing on trees. Not sure what you plan on using for a gerbil but the standard FE in these makes for a mean plant. Not the cheapest but it's all original to the slick.

That's exactly how I look at it too. I figured what the payments/insurance would be a year for a new F150, and thats my max budget for all my vehicles (not including the wifes). I kinda consider the difference in gas usage too now.

Oh yeah - you got a great deal on that truck! So what does the underside/inside look like?

I'm gonna put it on the lift Saturday and take some pictures. I have a shop at work and we can get some great shots of it in there.

I crawled under it and it looks great. Surface rust where you'd expect surface rust to be. I'm going to seal it up good and tight and let 'er roll.

Suggestion: For less than $25.00 you can buy a CD copy of the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog from hipoparts.com / also sold on ebay.

Every part is illustrated, so the parts catalog can also be used as an assembly/dis-assembly manual.

This is the same parts catalog I'm using here on FTE. It was scanned from an original paper catalog. There are 6,810 total pages of text & illustrations.

LOL I printed half of the manaul double sided pages and it took me 9 hours burning up the copier here at work. I have since learned to live with the computer files. Once in a while I still print off the pages I need though.

The 1964/72 truck individual sheets of paper parts catalogs take up two HUGE expandable binders, one for text (4,849 pages), t'other for illustrations (1,961 pages).

On FTE: Just try balancing those elephantine behemoths in your lap while typing part numbers.

Stacked on top of one another, the text & illustration catalogs stand over 3' tall.

I gave up after a week and ordered the CD version = fits in the palm of your hand and is hernia proof!

Gill, I have what I feel to be the original wheels and as original tires as you can expect on my truck. I'll be making some changes in the future and will consider you when I do so...

I am thinking of putting an aluminum grille and bumpers on the truck. What do you think the flawless grille and front bumper off my truck would be worth? I could sell them to offset the cost of the aluminum grille and chrome bumpers.

BTW...saw an awesome instrument panel for sale on ebay tonight. I just searched for "1965 Ford Truck" and "1966 Ford Truck" and found it. It has the three gauges instead of the one single gauge. Would that work in my truck?

What's the ebay listing number?

It appears to me by your description, to be the one used 1961/66 in standard cabs, or if it sez Custom Cab on it, was used 1961/64 on all models, some 1965/66 models.

3 guages: Center speedo with gas and temp gauges, flanked by the optional oil and amp gauges.

In response to Gillseekers ? about the grille/bumper cost...I saw a really really nice one go on ebay this week...ended up at 405. , and thats with the headlight doors too...I picked an NOS one off of ebay a cpl yrs ago...from a dealer cleaning the warehouse for a bit more then that and it didnt have the headlight doors...
A steel grille is just as nice I think, and alot more sturdier if you are gonna be driving it a bit...think of how royally pi$$ed off you would be if you had a nice aluminum grille and some kid on a bicycle ran into it...steel can be hammered out...aluminum is a whole nother ballgame .

As for the front bumper...depends...if you are a purist like I am, then I would expect to pay around one copy of Ben Franklin after shipping as thats one heavy pup. If you want a pretty bumper, and more stout then original, then theres plenty to choose from as the 67 up type bumper is a direct bolt on as it superceded the 64-6 type bumper...same scenario as the tailgate btw...

Bottom line...getting those 2 parts...not cheap by any means...unless you get super duper lucky...

eBay Motors: 1965 1966 FORD TRUCK CUSTOM CAB DELUXE GAUGE CLUSTER (item 190215119293 end time Apr-20-08 16:06:15 PDT)

Heres the link to the cluster Bill...I would steer clear as the seller says the odometer has been reset to zero...it doesnt look like an NOS speedo either like mine as far as the odometer goes...
The cluster isnt the fully loaded CC cluster either as that cluster had an optional oil pressure and alternator gauges which was standard on the Camper Specials and Rangers as I recall...look in my gallery as I have the full breakdown of the packages.

Its at 80 now...and does look very nice though...
