Clear Powder Coat?

Is there a clear powder coat I could put on wheels to protect them? I'm looking at a set of wheels that have black painted centers and a stainless lip. I don't know if they'll hold up in the winter, so I want to protect them the best I can. Would powder coat adhere?

Yes there is such thing as clear powder coat. But you just cant powder coat over anything, especially regular paint. Im pretty sure the paint on those wheels wont hold up to 400 degrees, which is the temp the powder needs to cure, so you're not gonna be able to clear over reg paint. You are gonna need to sandblast the wheels. Then you can put whatever color powder coat on you want and then you can put clear powder on the wheels. Powdercoating the wheels then putting clear powder on the wheels should hold up very well.

also keep in mind that powdercoating is thick so make sure holes for lugs are not treated with it.

Look at Eastwood Company, they have made powdercoating kits pretty affordable, and have a number to a tech guy that specializes in powdercoat.

Also, clear powder coat has been known to cure with a yellowish tint.

Yes, exactly. It has also been known to make the primary color dull, especially chrome. I Found out the hard way!

It will adhere to any clean metal surface (no oil) that will conduct electricity and survive 400 degrees without weakening.

The surface does not need to be blasted, so polished rims will do well, just be sure they are clean.
Also, the black center can be powder coated black, and the rest of the rim clear powder coated clear.

Verified 19 mpg city taking off slow as hell the shutting down at red lights, and with the radiator grill blocked flush, no bed cover, "drag shoot" mirrors on I get 24 mpg at 50 to 55 mph on the freeway empty!
However, with a bed cover, no mirrors and Hydroxy
