K code-early Mustang in Prairies?

I don't recall seeing many K Code (289/271 hp) '65/66 Mustangs back in the '60's anywhere in the Prairies.

Back then I lived both in Manitoba and Alberta and I only remember seeing one...a '65 dark blue, Mustang Fastback with 4 speed std.. It belonged to a fellow worker's boyfriend at the place (Eaton's- Main store Winnipeg) my Mother used to work.

I only saw the car once and he ran it through the gears. I was impressed, although my Father didn't share my enthusiasm.

We seem them now, but most of the ones I see are either clones or brought up from the USA.

K code was used to refer to the 289 solid lifter engine that was used in the early mustangs.

I was looking at buying a '66 coupe when I was 16 with the K-code, the guy wanted $6000 and I would have bought the car but my Dad wouldn't let me. He said it was to impractical for me!

It has to be a GT to have the K code engine. If I remeber correctly it came standard with a larger front sway bar than a standard GT. I will have to dig out some books I bought before I got married to get more particulars.

Nope, my GT isn`t a ''K'' code, it`s an "'A'' code meaning a 289 4V/225 hp.
I`m not sure if it has to be a GT to have a "'K'' code engine but quite possibly though.
I`d be suspicious on a "'K'' code, they`re valuable enough to prompt someone to fake one!
