Thanks. I have done the surfing thing myself...slow day at work..... you sort of nailed the reason I ask......bought a 3.8 Mustang ragtop last nite with a dead 3.8 and I have a nice 351W in the "parts pile".......... so I was just doing some figuring instead of the 3.8 rebuild.......... I was mainly wondering the difference in height and width, length doesn't matter lots of room there.
I am off in a couple of hours so I will get the tape out and do some measuring I guess.

You'll need the aftermarket oil pan for the 351W. They make headers for the swap also. I was gonna put a 400 in my Tbird, but since decided to use my 351W instead. My other Tbird has the 3.8 with a blown head gasket. I won't bother fixing it. A 302 is a direct replacement short of a bit of wiring harness. The 3.8 has a timing cover and dist. set-up that makes it just as long as a 302, if not longer.

I haven't measured yet but thanks for the info havi. They are both carbed so the fuel, wiring is a snap. The engine mounts should be a bolt in and since the 351W is out of a camper van it has a rear sump oil pan so I was thinking it may work. As for headers I am undecided on them, leaky, noisy, lots of heat......may just go with stock manifolds as long as they will let the exhaust clear the steering shaft.
Cant be to hard of a swap though, they did come with 5.0's stock so....... and I can't see it being as much fabrication as a 4.9 Caddy swap into a Fiero.
I am sort of building it for my wife for our 25th anniversary, not much of a surprise she noticed it right away on the trailer when I came home from work. She is really observant like that LOL
