It seems like you guys accept these stock VGT turbo's require regular maintenance/cleaning. So I will go down this route of having a second turbo as well as it appears my best bet.
I understand that Ford improved the turbo sometime during the 6L production to reduce sticking vanes and etc. I think they increased the size of something but can't recall what. So some questions:
1 - Why is there two different Motor craft numbers
2 - What part do each of these numbers represent
3 - Do these part numbers fit my 03
4 - Are these parts the 03 turbo with the infamous whistle
5 - What can be done to treat the turbo to prevent sticking as a mitigation measures.
6 - Best place to buy a good priced VGT (You can PM me if it is more appropriate)
Sorry for all the questions but I will buy a second VGT turbo, but I am educating myself here as I am unfamiliar in the turbo category.
Thanks for all the help. Keep the information coming

The numbers that I gave are for the 2005 to 2007 trucks. The 2003 turbo is different and will have a different pedestal mount. The turbos from different years will work they just do not all have the same pedestal.
The modifications your referring to is inside the turbo where the vains are riding on the surface. They machined out part of that area so that there is less contact.
I believe the motor craft number for the 2003 turbo is 3C3Z-6K682-CBRM.
I do not know why there is two different numbers for the 2005 to 2007 trucks but they are the same turbo. There are alot of people on here that have done research on these turbo and maybe some of them will have more input.
I understand that there is some turbo gasket kit needed when cleaning and replacing turbos, if this is true can someone tell me what part or where I can find it for my 03. This thread has been etremely informative and I think I coming to a close on the inforation hunt.
Just call your local dealership and ask for the turbo repair (or replace) kit. Comes with mounting bolts, oil drain o-rings, and oil feed gasket. Costs about $8.50.

What I did was to get a spare turbo from ebay and keep it clean and ready togo. When my turbo starts sticking I just change it out and I am on my way. These turbos usually only need cleaning and nothing else to keep them going. I found a brand new rebuilt turbo by ford with the latest up grades to it and the gaskets in the ford box for 400.00.
I took the turbo apart to inspect it and it is like brand new. It is the exact replacement for what is already on my truck. Just another option to consider.
HAHAHAHAHA....... Dude, that is awesome
