Settle a bet for me

Just a fun thing here. My buddy and I took my cab off the frame tonight on my 66 f100. He says the cab weighs between 300 and 400lbs, I say it weighs between 700 and 800lbs. Everything was still in the cab, seat , gas tank etc. We lifted it up off the frame with a hoist, we physically didn't pick it up. So if anyone has weighed a cab before...settle this bet. Thanks, Barry

rusbukt is starting off with a positive reputation.
Regular Cab or Custom Cab ? Custom Cab has extra trim on it.
I am guessing ( because I have moved my cab around by myself) 375 lbs. on a bare cab. Add in the extras not including doors. My guess 575 lbs.
My 3/4 ton weighs in at 4520 lbs. Where do we place our bets?

Barry you buddy is closer. It is a hollow sheet metal shell nothing there to add a lot of weight. I have scooted them on the floor by myself so without the doors on I doubt it weighs 300lbs. Doors are in the 60lb range. My guesstimate.

No way.. he said the seat was still in it and the gas tank.. the seat weighs at least 45-50lbs, the tank has to be at least 25lb empty (which I'm guessing it wasn't) how much does a gallon of gas weigh again? Then there is the glass which isnt in alot of cabs when they're pulled. Uhm gotta be at least 65lb there.. Looks like rusbukt has it pretty well nailed you guys owe him a sixer

Bobby, there is 500lbs between 300 and 800, and you are a long way off.

No I'm not read the post again.... add the numbers up and tell me if it comes to 800lbs. I said "everyone owes Rusbukt a sixer" do the math you'll see he's the closest to the actual weight (in theory of course)

I agree...I would go with 600-650 though....seats are heavy as is glass....if the doors were on still....that would add I would guesstimate about another 175 or so lbs. on top of the 6-650 I said above...
I do recall getting my extra bare cab in and out of my truck was not an easy task though...

I know this is yesterdays post and the beer is already gone, but I say with Johns #s of 300 +60+60=420, the buddy loses according to "Price is Right Rules" - closest without going over! Tell your buddy he owes you a 12 pack today.

And the seat and gas tank come to 0 lbs ? dont think so.. sorry but it's bad math.. then add the glass n the cab which is still there as per his post(not in Johns statement) see above, electrical/ducting/radio etc.. I'm going with just under 625lb thats my story and I'm sticking to it..

WOW, I think I owe you guys a sixer. I'll pay up at the f100 supernats. Now I really want to know what the cab weighs. I wish there was a way to weigh it in the shop.

Friends, I must confess, I have never weighed one, don't have a way to weigh one either. I do think I can relate things. While I have never seen a complete FE on a scale, I think most agree one weighs in around 700lbs. I have scooted one of those on the floor as well as a cab, and I say the motor is twice as heavy. The cab does not have a good way to grab it, but I can easily pick up one side so you can slide a 4X2 under it.

Bobby, I would be happy to buy and share a beer, but can't buy the weight claim.
