i got a good deal on a gauge cluster amp water and oil press, but it has no directions great deal lol i can get the temp and oil with no troubles but im not sure were to wire the amp gauge up to with an external reg can any one help me out?
What kind of gauge is it? There is more then one kind. What are the terminals marked on the back of the gauge. Some labeled the posts and some didn't. If you were backwards you just reversed the positive wires.
You don't see to many of these gauges anymore. I have heard of people, back in the day get, getting killed by wiring these up or working on them. 12 volts won't kill most people but 1 amp will kill most.

if it is a true amp gauge and the power wire from the alt, must run through it , it wont be big enough unless it is rated to 120 amps , most of those aftermarket amp gauges are only for 60 amps , your diesel has a 100 amp alt
and a voltmeter is a better choice
Hook it up under the hood and see if it works. Put one post on the battery hot. You can use the terminal at the start relay. Hook the other wire to an ignition hot somewhere. See what it says. If it reads but backwards swap the wires on the posts. Be careful and don't hold the gauge. They can get you. You would be the only path to ground and that means dead generally.

actually edison wanted a/c voltage banned
he made tours of large towns and would electricute a dog as a demonstration of how dangerous a/c was he called it being westinghoused
of course he had a patent on the use of d/c current
but back to our trucks , if the 12 volts of d/c were that dangerous you wouldnt be able to buy a battery or even see it in your vehicle due to safety precautions

You know your history, ford trans tech. From what I read its all true. Edison later quietly admitted that his stance on AC was one of his regrets (though I'm still mad at him for what he did to Tesla). The first human electricution was a total flop, not nearly as "humane" as was claimed at the time.
The only time I ever felt 12V is if a fresh scrape on my skin came in contact with a 12 wire. Even got the odd mild electric tingle when I was younder and making less than proper wiring for model trains. I wouldn't call 12V dangerous.
