whay type tranny, options?

Helping a friend replace his tranny. His 4x2 has a 302 with auto od.

he has very limited funds and just wants to get going. Not worried about od, this is a real beater truck

did any of the mid 80s have a c-4? What would be needed to convert it to c-4 from aod as aod is not found locally. Add vac. line for modulator, what else?

Thanks,

Thanks,

your gonna think im nuts, but a c-6 from a 351 windsor will also fit. aside from the vac line, you will possibly need to move the trans mount, and recut the driveshaft for either swap as well as changing the speedo gear and the kickdown linkage. what year is the truck? i wish you would have caught me about 2 months ago, i had an aod from a 302 that had been rebuilt a few years ago. ill keep my ears open and see if i can locate you one for cheap. we have a ton of junk yards around here. but i still need the year should be around 87 and up. also if you can find an ltd with a 302 it will also have the tranny you are lookin for.
