You shouldn't be worried, fords quality is off the charts now, right up there with yoda and honda. You should be in good shape no matter what year of ford you buy, new design or not. A lot of R&D goes into ford trucks, it's thier bread and butter rig. So to make a long story short, "NO", I'm not afraid to buy an 09.

I've got to say this: Why does everyone think that Toyota and honda are so much better than an American car. Someone said in a previous post that the Toyota was so much better than the Taurus. In what respect? I'd really like to know. Most everyone in my family owns Ford or GM cars. Mostly ford. Many of them have close to or over 200K miles. No problems to speak of. I have driven the American cars and I have driven the Toyotas and I really cannot see what the big deal with the more exensive foriegn cars are.

I'm the one who said that the Camry is better than the Taurus. This is how I came about this.

We have owned two Camrys and my Mom owns one. The 03 we have right now has been to the shop one time to fix a steering shaft rub under warranty. The other two have been flawless and they have or had 119,000 and 73,000 trouble free miles. Our 03 with the least milearge 58,000.

My friends own a Taurus and another person I know has one. They have both been in the shop quite a bit, for what I don't know but I hear the complaining. I've driven them too and they just are not as nice.
The Toyota is smoother as far as power and shifting. It rides better and has a better build with much less noise and vibration.

Look at what the used Ford cars get as used vehicles. It's not impressive plus none of them make the quality reccomended used car list. That right there tells you something.

Now the Ford trucks surely must be better than their cars. Although I'm one who doesn't believe this as I owned three brand new Ford trucks in the mid to late eighties that were the most troublesome Trucks I've ever owned.
That's what pushed me to Toyota.

I wanted a new Tundra but after driving them and seeing the poor quality annd seeing all the issues with them I'll pass on the Tundra for now. They just cut too many corners on this rushed to market truck.

Even after having three really poor quality Fords trucks in the past I'm interested in the new F150. I'd give them another shot after a year or two if the 09 really is improved like Ford states they are.

I can't wait to see them.

From what I hear Fords newwer Engine are less powerful than the tundra, but are more reliable.Toyotas are designed by japanese people, they care about the customer unlike ford who just cares about your money, and so they put much more effort into striving for perfection. If the f150 didnt have a ford logo on it,it wouldnt go much farther

I guess to each his own, but I just cannot see the difference in quality. My uncle has a '00 escort: 190K. No problems. Another uncle has an '89 F150. 250K No problems. I had a '88 tempo with 130K no problems. Friend has an '00 F250 280K no problems. I've got a '68 mustang: 140K no problems. I've got a 1970 F100: 125K no problems

I work at the Ford Plant here in KCMO we build the F150,s. At this time we are doing intagrated builds to find out what works, goes together right, doesnt go together right SO it will MORE than likely be RIGHT when it comes to FINAL PRODUCTION. I wouldnt worry about FIRST time issues, any more they have it all figured out buy the time it comes to releaseing new products.

Looks Fine to me

If it were me & I liked the ride/response of the truck - I wouldn't wait.

I kind of like being the first: I was on my '87 F150, as well as the '95 Explorer and now my 2008. Each one worked out pretty well, if only diesel were closer to $2 per gallon than $4 (soon to be $5?) ...
