So...You don't think Ford had a hand in the development and testing of it?

If there weren't going to be new motors coming out in 2010 I would buy an 09, but I will have to wait at least until the #'s are out then decide on either a 2010 or a leftover 09.

There is a spy photo floating around on the internet, with no camo or anything, it does look really good, and it is a totally different car than what we have now.
Saw that spy photo as well, looks really awesome. I couldn't believe that could be a possible taurus

I must say, if this is the taurus and it has a good powertrain, I will definately take a look at it.

You have got to be kidding!!!

Toyota has got more than thier fair share of quality issues. Toyota made a good name with the inexspensive reliable econo cars. But the truck scene is not near as "rosey" for them.

And lord help you if you use one like a truck.

Toyota does have some major issues with their Tundra but their cars a night and day better than anything Ford puts out.

Like I said Ford might have caught up in initial quality satisfaction but look at long term ratings and reccomended used vehicles and appraised value on those used cars and that tells the whole story.

The reliability of the f150 increased since it came out with the new style in 04. So they def. made some improvements to the truck. We have all heard about the slip/clunk in the drivetrain and the half ass rear ends that were inlcuded on some of the 04s.
That being said I would not buy an 09. Even if the 09 did break down under warranty I would not want to spend time at the dealership anymore than I have to.
Also everyone is talking about the Ford Taurus in this thread, yall cant forget about the Ford Fusion. Now that is a nice car!

I completely agree that these problems are lessened in today's world thanks to modern technology, however I can say from first-hand experience that this is always an issue with any kind of engineering. There are often bugs with any kind of new product; Ford is no exception. I would expect the same potential for unforseen field flaws with Ford trucks as I would any other vehicle because automotive manufacturers are only human.

I didn't know Ford made the Milan. I thought it was a Mercury or their high level car.
If you want to play that way lets throw in the top of the line Lexus.
The Taurus is no match for the Camry. We've owned two Camry's and I know people who own Taurus's and I drove them to compare. There is no comparison IMHO.

Just last month bought a new Mercury Sable Premier. Very nice car and I am sure that it is every bit as good and better than a Camry. You can't convince me that Ford hasn't made big strides to catch and pass Toyota with these new models. The Fusion/Milan and the Taurus/Sable are great cars!

International engine tuned by Ford. I do believe that they run them ~100HP and much higher RPM than IH.

If we were going to compare anything with a Lexus, it would be Lincoln, much more in its class.

I think I'm the one who started the Lexus comparison. Well my dealer did!

I don't know that Ford does any tuning to them. I believe that the engines are provided to Ford by IH under a spec contract. In otherwords, they are given specific requirements, and IH builds an engine to meet the requirements. Like the US Government does. If it doesn't meet the specifications, the buyer is under no obligation to accept the product.

Ergo, IH missed the spec on maintenance and reliability. SURPRISE!

IDK that the Lexus is such a great car. Very nice, mind you. They are just Toyota car models everywhere else in world except the US. American buyers purchase the perception of quality. The Lexus is not any better a car than the high line of Toyotas that it comes from in Japan. Nice appointments, wide body and long wheelbase. A Toyota never the less. They market the cars and SUVs to a higher income market than the standard Toyota as they have to get more for it. Most of them are/were assembled in Japan and the exchange rate differential has to be covered somehow. Americans won't buy a discount brand like Toyota for big bucks unless it different somehow. So they renamed it, and they sell/sold like hotcakes. Personally, I don't care for them. Crappy seating ergonomics for my big frame. Nice appointments. Expensive to repair. My brother has a 93 400 SC and he has had to have the rear suspension bushings replaced twice for about $2K each time. Ouch! But he likes his car. And repairs are cheaper than the new ones...

I think that the Ford Taurus is closer to the Toyota Avalon. I think that is/used to be built in Ohio? Didn't they take that back to Japan for assembley as well. I forget. Sable is a little nicer Taurus, not necessarily at the same market as the Lexus. And Lincoln could be there if they had more engine hp. Just my $.02.
