I listen to Paul sometimes here in KY. but not on a Bose Wave radio.

Hey I have an old Ford that is a short bed. It runs alright but it doesn't start good.

Hey Dodge. 405 grain, 90 grains 3fg. Shoots like a dream. Gotta love a Shiloh. It will hold 130 grains of loose but that is waisting I think. I am going to play with some lighter loads also. Going to use grits for filler.

Me and the wife watched the FIRST season of survivor. I thought the name explained it all: the last one to give up living on the island with no help from the outside WINS!
NOW THAT'S A TV SHOW I COULD GET INTO!
Give them a few necesities/tools, let the people who work well together outlast the wimps who just want to be on TV. Cut out all the immunities and competitions and crap and have REALity TV.
THAT'S SURVIVOR

When that Richard IDIOT won I almost puked and vowed I'd never watch again, and I haven't!
If I wanted to see an overweight white guy running around naked I can look in the mirror.

Back in the OLD OLD OLD days they used to shoot in the snow and see how much unburnt powder was left on the ground to see how efficient their "load" was. You can do the same thing with a big white sheet or tarp or something.
But this was back in the days when a talk of a chronograph would have gotten you burned at the stake for witchcraft.

I built a guy a 45-120 once on a Ruger No.1. You could SAFELY equal 460 Weatherby Mag velocities with it but MAN did it kick! I thought it was a pretty origional idea until I saw another one somebody else had built a few years before I did.

There are guys that still use the snow. I have heard that. I am going to use a sheet. I am putting together some loads and going to chronograph them and see what I come up with. I have a good time with it.

RCrawler is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
From TV shows, to TV sizes, cab sizes, and now gun talk...

Thanks Dave S for being open minded and layed back when we get a little off topic. Thats one of the reasons I enjoy this forum.

I second that.

I came to this forum for the info, but I stayed because of the great conversations that happen here.

I third it!
Of course I'm a Gunsmith and my only hobbies are Trucks and Guns so it's like heaven to me!

S.P.
Appearantly you don't watch ENOUGH TV or you only watch Hitory and Discovery or you would KNOW that the guns you really have to fear are BLACK guns. I always found that kind of racist myself.
Then there are the "semi-automatic revolvers" and ".22 caliber sawed-off shotguns" and "AR-47" and "AK-16" and "AK-15" all of which I have heard of on the news. We REALLY need to live in fear of them because appearantly they can jump up on there own and shoot people! I've never seen any of them and I hope I never do!

The Balistic Optimising Shooting System does work really well. You almost definitely know how it works by changinr the barrel harmonics via the weight at the end of the barrel. Also if you don't know they make a "CR" which stands for conventional recoil. It is the weight without the ports in it if the noise of the muzzle break bothers you, but then of course it might kick more than you and/or your daughter might like.

Browning only offers the B.O.S.S. system now, they took it away from Winchester because it was eating into Browning's sales. A lot of Browning firearms are great but they don't actually MAKE anything, they just have products made for them and put their name on them. I hate the company though, their customer service SUCKS BAD. I can't even begin to tell all the stories of problems I and my customers have had dealing with them. Now just to be perfectly clear- I am not saying there products are all bad, far from it, most are good, their customer service is a lot like a BAD car dealer though.

Now this I can't explain:
Fabrique Nationale in Belgium owns Browning and U.S. Repeating Arms Company (which makes Winchester Rifles under license from OLIN who ownes the name and Winchester Ammunition). If you send in a Winchester to get fixed they treat you fairly, if not very well indeed. They are doing the repair/warranty work at the same location, presumably by the same workers/gunsmiths. So is there a "corporate directive" to screw the Browing owner and treat the Winchester owner fairly? By the way can't wait for the NEW Model 70s to come out! If I could only own one model of rifles (curse that day!) it would be Model 70 Classics.

My wife and both kids, daughter 16 son 14 all like to shoot I hate to say this, but the wife shoots my 357mag. better than me, she shoots all guns well, but will not hunt. Im OK w/that thats my "ME TIME" till the kids start going. cant wait.......never had a prob. w/my win. mod. 70 classic. I love the way it shoots....(I thought that gun was the NEW model...and Winchester stoped making rifles)... I do want the "cr" boss though....when breakking in the gun I didnt notice any differance in recoil..just the noise... Im told all guns are "BLACK GUNS"... from the news and PC people... O I need one of them AR15/bushmasters...just a plinker.... Hey dodge/cummins have you gotten your new ford yet?? hope its all you wanted, I now mine turned out to be better/more than I though...I wish I was a gunsmith,, Dave S. thanks for letting us go off topic, (I know Im new here I just dont want to get verbally spanked) [Tho I do have a sense of hummor]

There isn't anything wrong with some off topic as long as everybody stays inbounds. By that I mean no name calling and just being rude. I wouldn't want to be a member of a forum that has a bunch of that stuff. People should be able to have a conversation and even pick at one another without getting rude. I am not one to start a debate or pick at someone. I would never say that Stihl chainsaws are the best and Huskies. Anything like that.

There is allot of experience here with allot of things that can help people out. This is a pretty good group and would probably have fun if we got together. The main thing is that we get the trucks fixed if possible and help with some other things if we can.

It is a great forum and has a great mod.

Pickin' the Ford up Sunday.

There's a new model 70 comming out soon, it's the same as the old except it has a new (supposedly better) trigger. It will be mfgd. in North Carolina at the FN plant which should up the quality controll. Being a gunsmith is cool but the profit margins aren't to good. Anytime you do something for a living it becomes a JOB. The good thing is I still enjoy firearms so it hasn't ruined my hobby yet. My Dad always said you can do something you want and just get by or do something you hate and make money. Most of us are probably somewhere inbetween.

It is easy to get burnt out on about anything. Heck I wouldn't want to go catfishing for a job. That is one of my things to do but it would get old also.

At least I have a job that I do like and now I am in a "take it as it comes" pace. I get my work done and it is slower paced. I don't take the job home anymore either. Now when I get home I am piddling in the shop, working in the garden, fishing in my pond, shooting, or messing with my chickens. I am fixing to make me a corn grinder. I have an old one but I need a better one. I am going to start raising allot of my feed. I gave 14.50 for a 50lb. sack of crushed corn the other day.

Proof there are rednecks everywhere. I have an 066 Magnum that has been a good saw but I don't think he will hang with them.

I do have a 6.9 handy but I don't think I could pick up my half.
