sold the ford....bought a dodge

This thread is not to start no crap. I just wanted to say I traded in the powerstroke for a new 08 cummings megacab drw. First thing I will say is if you think your going to get better fuel mileage with a dodge, you are sadly mistaken. Now keep in mind my truck has a whopping 300 miles on it now but I pulled 6k through the mountains @ 62mph and I got 11mpg. My old ford use to do it at 65 and get 12 but maybe the truck needs to break in like they say. Empty on the freeway at 65 it gets 15 and the old ford would get 17. As far as handling, there is no comparison, dodge all the way but to be fair my old ford was a 250 srw and this is a 350 drw so I imagine that plays a big part. I do notice the low end grunt tq that this dodge has and it is awesome. I got a laramine so I think the interior is awesome but once again to be fair the old one was a XLT so I didn't have all the bells and whistles. But all in all I'm happy with the change but will miss the people on here and how friendly you all were and willing to help. If I have problems with it I will be sure to let yal know.

No problem here, you have to do what you think is right. Keep us posted on how the new truck does, just not the problems.

One of my good friends had an 06 4 door DRW 3500 cummins manual and it is a beast. He has already had some clutch issues and 4wd not engaging correctly though. Best of luck to ya with the new truck!

I'll say one thing. The 6.7 cummins is the quietest diesel I have ever seen.

Buddy of mine bought the same model truck in that Cheerwine-red color and absolutely loves pulling his 5th wheel over the NC mountains w/ the new tranny (engine brake) and cummins combo.

Personally, I really like the mega-cab dually bed w/ the different fenders. The 1st time I saw one I thought it was some kind of custom conversion. Enjoy your new truck!

Stay Tuned

That's a nice looking rig and surely not one I'd kick out of bed for eating crackers. Congrats on the purchase and best wishes for many reliable miles to come.

Congrats on the Cummins!

Make sure you check out the Turbo Diesel Register website. They also have an excellent quarterly publication covering all years of Cummins powered Dodge trucks. Turbo Diesel Register

Congrats on making the decision to move on -- that 6.0 of yours did have some problem with it, the way you described how it ran...

Did you ever test drive the 6.4? Was it a price thing, or just ready to try something other than another Ford right now?

Good luck with the new ride...
