here's a little tease for you

I think John might be a little unclear on the concept of an engine stand. Normally one would take the engine OUT of the truck before bolting it to the stand.
From the looks of it he's going to be able to bolt the engine with truck AND garage to the stand without any problems.
You go John!!

I know... I know you can buy one already made... but most are junk. Fabricated from used downspout pipe and EMT conduit... But they are guaranteed to bind up and be totally unusable and some even dangerous.
You don't get into usable equipment till you get up in the 300 buck range.
I have one of those Chinese ones that someone gave me.... cause he was tired of wrestling with it. I hung my bare 460 block on it and it physically groaned. I showed it the heads and a tear formed in the corner of the faceplate. I think I'm going to convert it to an extension of my scrap pile... but salvage the wheels.

you can never overbuild something too much... Hopefully the 460 will sit on this thing perfectly parallel with the floor and spin like the propeller on your beanie.
I'm blessed with good friends that can do machine work and serious welding and I always make two of everything to return the debt. Also having access to pipe and square tubing for free/cheap is an added bonus... so far the total investment in this project is zero. So given those parameters ??? how could I not build it ??? Tubing for the stand will be cut this afternoon and taken to the blaster for cleaning tomorrow...( gonna use my fancy dry cut chop saw with the new Bullit Industries Blade.... )
then it's off to Las Vegas for 5 days of R&R only to return in the middle pf a 10 day maintenance outage on a blast furnace... fun fun fun... 12 hour shifts for 10 days. It don't get much better than that !!!
Penn Dick... is that a pic of that big ole honkin Japanese tanker engine... with like 12' wide cylinders ???
