Somewhere on FTE the OHM readings for Ford sending units has been listed. Try doing a search on "OHM reading" or "sending units". If VDO doesn't list the OHM reading that their gauges operate within then call them and ask. I doubt if the VDO unit will fit in the Mustang tank so you will need the Mustang sending unit or maybe even modify the Mustang unit to accept the VDO sender. I guess another possible would be to have a radiator shop close up the Mustang sender location and cut a new hole in the top for the VDO unit. I used Autometer gauges with mine and Autometer modified their guage to work with the Ford sending unit. It worked but not 100% accurate.

Why do many people take the gas tanks out of the cabs?
Is or was there a safety problem with them in the cab?
My 1930 coupe has a gas tank for a dash and my steering wheel is tied to it..and you know I wrap my family jewels around my motorcycles....

Here ya go:

I am sure VDO has a guage to match such a common sender range. Ask them.

The gauge HAS to match the sender. If the sender you got with the VDO gauges will not fit in the tank you will have to get one that does fit the tank and then be sure that one is also compatible with the gauge or get another gauge.
