That is the Glacier Blue! Code D for 54. The Glacier Blue color is very much a Cameleon, as you saw in the photo strip patches I made up. It looks very nice on t e54 as well. Shall I cut and paste the strips on there for ya Aussie? Be more than happy to.
As you can see by the shadows on th eground, this picture was taken in bright sun light - where the Glacier Blue hinds a little more toward the lighter sample you showed us last week. And different types of light will do that to paint. If you took a picture of this truck under an overcast sky, I'll bet ya a Beer at the Oz Rock in Sydney it would be exactly the same as the Glacier Blue chip you posted.
Note: this truck has been modified. It has a modified 54 of a 56 back Drivers side fender. Bed side Spare tire carriers were not offered on F1/F100s until 1956. So, it's probably been repainted this color (not to say it wasn't originally Glacier Blue)

Dan, cool displays of colors. However, I do beieve, from all the literature I have, that the side mount spare was first offered in 1954.

Could be, but according th "Chuck" at "Chucks Trucks" who is considered to be one of the industry experts, 56 was the year - FOR HALF TONS. I've been trying to find one of those fenders on for my 51 Pass. side for months. On the larger trucks I heard it may have started earlier. Not 100% sure....But, I love al the colors...Poor Aussie is probably ready to brain me!

Thanks Dan, you certainly have a good perpective on how a colour looks in different shades of sunlight. Finding the original colour is mind boggling. I wouldn't mind painting my pickup red, but there is just far too many of them out there. So I will soldier on with the Glacier Blue and hopefully by time I am ready to paint it in a couple of weeks I'll have it all sorted out. Cheers All.

I'm sure it will work out great! Only trouble is that you have a great color and so many choices that are so close but - a little bluer if you like or a little brighter if you like. I agree there's too many red trucks and your color will look great. The color I've picked out for mine was the same way because there are so many that are so close - but not quite right.
As far as matching colors, thanks for the compliment. I've been a contractor in Southern California for 7 years now. And after dealing with women (sorry ladies but it's soooo true) trying to pick a paint color for that bathroom or kitchen, you learn very quickly to train your eye for that sort of thing (as I'm sure many of the married guys on the site will attest!!!)
We should get some fun comments from THAT statement, HUH?
Anyway, I have lots of paint chart references so if you need paint codes for colors, let me know.
And hey! I'll even bring it down--- for a beer at the Oz Rock in Kings Cross!
(PS for all the US Ford Fans - Last time I had "a Beer" at the Oz Rock Cafe in Kings Cross (1986), I was still a US Navy Pilot and made the wonderful mistake of going into the place in Uniform. It was like being a king...the Aussies are the most wonderful people!!!!! Next I knew, I came too two days later in Japan, full, sore as hell, a few cuts and bruises, definately "pleasured" (a lot -ouch) and $150 richer than I started out - never got back to my room, but everything I owned got on my plane. The Fosters they have down under DEFINATELY ain't what their sellin' up here! Sure wish I'da been half concious enough to remember! Ah to be young again!

I did a little doodling on paint brush and came up with this concept for the old 53. This is pretty much how the pickup will look when it's finished. Just the minor details of the paint and everything is sweet as. Thanks everyone for their input and hopefully will be bringing you pictures very soon in the mean time throw another snag on the barbie and enjoy.
