Your '94 CW 5.0 should have a 4R7OW electronic 4 spd OD. Push button at end of shift. No idea what models interchange.

Think the '90 Towncar has the same AOD vacuum-no button, 4spd OD as '92 & '93 (plus earlier) 5.0 CWs. I know later ones did, it was the only other app using a longer tail shaft & housing needed in my '92 Chateau. Do not believe anyone who tells you the tail shafts/housings can be swapped out easily.

Someone did tell me its easier to put an AOD into a newer CW than vice versa. No idea how much easier, or even if its true.

Virtually all '94 5 liter CWs are going to have the 4R70W (AODE) in them. There may be a few stray E4ODs out there but they are VERY rare.

.
Note: AOD's do not use a vacuum modulator. They use a TV cable.

You could put an AOD in a van that had an AODE but you would have to completely change the throttle linkage at the throttle body to be able to attach the TV cable. This would be a PITA.

To install an AODE (4R70W) in place of an OE AOD, you would have to swap the entire PCM and wiring harness to provide the electronics to drive the AODE.

Any pre '97 4R70W (AODE) with the long tail shaft and a 5.0 bellhousing will work in your van.
