?s about Gauges!!

I have the three gauge pod with egt, boost, and trans. I have seen and read that people have up to like 18 gauges in there trucks. I was just wondering what all should be monitored and where all these gauges could posibly be put with out looking silly. I already have my cab looking like the inside of an airplane with gauges and other things and lights every where.

Thanks Cody

egt is the #1 to have next is coolent temp and watter temp as both them gauges suck stock as in they dont work very good, the oil pres. gauge is nothing but an idiot light with a needle. and the coolent temp gauge is very in acurate and you have no idea what temp you are acualy at

Does autometer make these gauges and when watching the gauges you mentioned what do you have to watch for with the water, coolent and oil. I understand temp on water and coolent and then pressure on oil. But what are the temps and pressures suppose to run at under normal conditions.

some big rigs even have axle temp gauges. i would assume that those would be completely useless to us. but i guess they need them.

Ya, I have those already"egt, boost, and trans". Im thinking bout adding another egt gauge for the other manifold, so I know what the heat is on both sides instead of just one. That way I have double protection and not just rely on one gauge. What other gauges could you need and where could I put them??

IN addition to the triple gauges, I have oil pressure and coolant temp. I will also soon be adding another sender for oil temp and use the coolant temp gauge with a switch to use the gauge for both fluids. I have mine in a 2 pod on top of the dash. I have also in my 95 put a gauge in the square next to the WTS and WIF panel.

What brand gauges do you have and where did you get them? Do you have any pics of your setup? How did you run oil pressure into the cab?

There are pics in my "truck pics" link. The three on the pillar are Autometer cobalt 2's and the other two are autometer ultra-lites. I bought the ultra-lites off ebay I think. They are all electric other than the boost gauge so they have electric sending unit and only need to run wires into the cab.

If you're towing alot, you might consider a temp gauge for the rear differential. Sounds like you have all the other gauges covered.

Just for fun, you could add a tachometer, rather than relying on the stock unit.

I would drill and tap 08 cover or weld in a bung to a steel cover
