As I said before...I go off-road almost every day (construction) and haul all of my tools. I take it easy though, and don't trash it. Personally, I've only hauled a load of rock, a new vanity for the bathroom, and some stuff to the dump...the rest of the time it's pristine. Should I have bought a car and rented a truck?

Interesting and honest replies.

I appreciate all the replies to my post. I was sure that they would be very contraversial in nature. My relating this story was to get people responses.

In regards to my truck I keep the cab and the exterior clean and have added different upgrades. Yes my bed inside does have dings and some scrapes from hauling and towing a 5th wheel camper. I take my truck off-road and anywhere else I need to go. I care about how others see my truck.

To the person that suggested I make the payments or keep quiet, I was only telling the story. How many of you can say that you have never lowered your windows since you have bought your truck? None of you said that you haven't so I guess he is the only one. How many of you have never put anything thing in your bed, not even groceries? It was not a matter of making a fool of him but showing that some people have strange habits.

Well I thought it was interesting, thanks for sharing. It's good to know there are other people out there that share my neuroses. I hate putting anything in the bed of my truck

ONE DAY I WILL HAVE A TRUCK WITH A PRISTINE BED, WITH AN EVEN CLEANER INTERIOR.

There is nothing wrong with taking care of a vehicle, being obsessive is another story. IT IS A TRUCK! just metal, plastic and glass.

I feel that my better half should never drive anything worse/older than what I drive. She drives the newest truck in the stable.

And for the Dodge owner with 2400 miles, that is crazy. Autos seem to fall apart in different ways when not driven. Most seals need lubrication and gears need to be worked, so on and so on.

KEEP YOUR TRUCKS MAINTAINED, AND DRIVE THEM ANYWAY YOU PLEASE.

I note you have a Bull Bar on the front of your truck....doesn't it get bloody when you mow thru a herd of bulls?

I can't imagine feeling BAD about actually using a truck--even most posers who own trucks seem eager to use them, in order to justify having them. I've got an E150 Ford van, and felt just great last weekend when my son and three other members of the U of Mich cycle racing team drove the van some 600 miles to a race, with 6 bikes and a ton of gear in the back. This is what trucks are for...going through scouting with my son, nothing made the "city truck" dads happier than having a chance to load up their trucks, or pull a trailer...

Perhaps you could help some friends move pillows and blankets when they are moving to a new residence?

Closest I've gotten was when I almost plowed through a herd of angry rocket scientist coming out of a 3 hour long mission briefing a few weeks ago. Those guys think they own the pedestrian walk-ways around JSC. I need to get a new licence plate...YLD2ME

I will tell you what I have a 04 f150 fully loaded lariat that i try to keep clean all the time, I am not obsessive, but i wash it once a week an wax once a month. I do use the little 5.5 foot bed for random stuff, but i would not consider my truck a work truck even though it is a pickup. Funny thing is I just think ford truck are just to goddamn good looking to work hard and scratch and dent up. I would beat the hell out of ugly *** Chevy any day.

Guess I'm one of the **** ones. I clean my truck every weekend no matter what. I hauled a refrigerator a few weeks ago and scratched the bed floor pretty bad. The next weekend it had a Herculiner in it. The better the truck looks at trade in, the more you get for it. Traded my 2002 in for a 2007 and received $3000 more than i expected.. @002 looked like it just came off the show room except for the mileage..
