'96 F-350 for sale

Hi, all. New to the board here and have been lookin' at a '96 F-350 for a little while now. Your responses may help me convince my wife's decision . I am looking at a '96 F-350 with 94,000 miles. It's a single cab 4x4 xl with a small lift. It's also got the 351 and is carfax certified. The price, $3,495. I would post a picture if I knew how, but does it sound like a good deal?

You may want to go to www.kbb.com to check out local prices. As a point of reference, I paid $900.00 for the truck in my sig. Granted, the guy needed to pay rent and I have put about $1000.00 into it. Out here in Oregon, Kelly Blue Book says mine should sell for between $2500.00 to $3300.00. Mine is just a standard cab 2WD with power nothing.

Best I can say is to give it a good test drive and go with your gut. No leaks, tires good, shifts ok, the usual. Good luck.

Went and looked at the truck. Boy, what a pain to search for an ID#. Link below:

Not too bad looking but since it is at a dealer, be careful. Someone traded it in for a reason and I doubt they traded it to this dealer. Check KBB like I said and check all the fluids well. Pay extra attention to the tranny fluid. It should be nice and pink, not brown. If you do decide to buy it, go with the lowest KBB price and SLOWLY work up.

You can take the VIN ( 2FTHF36H6TCA64234 ) and enter it here:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/vin-decoder/index.php

to see more info about it. You have the same engine as me but not the trany. That you will have to get from the door sticker.

If you get a chance, copy everything from the pillar sticker and post it here. Then we can tell you what the running gear is and what to look for.

Just noticed the rust in the tailgate. Check picture 5 and enlarge it. The hitch also gives a warning. If this was used to tow with on a regular basis, make sure it has the towing package. Mine does not. Dual core radiator, trany cooler, oil cooler, and either the trailer brake activator mounted on the under-dash or the screw holes where it was.

Be careful of rigs used to tow with. You may have major driveline and suspension issues.

Thank you very much, gentlemen. I'll have to take some time off and ride down to test it out. Anything else to look for?
