Sounds like you've already decided.

Seeing how you spewed a bunch of stuff about gas engines that isn't true, and a bunch of other stuff that doesn't really make any sense at all. (Like you have money for a new 7.3 but not for a cheaper V10?)

Both vehicles are way overpriced, as they are both modified (which kills value rather than increases it), the diesel truck is worn out (like it or not the truck is), and an 04 V10 just shouldn't be that much.

If it were me and I had to have a diesel, I would put my 26K toward a newer stock truck. With diesel being more rediculous than gas now, the big diesel trucks are just as worthless as the gassers and you can get great deals on late model trucks.

The diesel will hold its value a lot better.
IMO, I would take the deal on the Diesel, bank the 6K like you said in case something does goes wrong.
You will get a lot better performance, now and in the long run with that diesel.
I have seen 7.3 with as much as 350K. You will really like the diesel when you drive in the hills. So much torque to climb thoes hills. My 6.0L does it without effort. I have 148K on mine. Runs like a champ!
Go Diesel!!!!!!!

Just a side note, I would not consider that V-10 a gonner @ 120,000 miles. I've seen some local towing companies get real close to 200,000 and they were early v-10's with the spark plug popping issue. I also know of several people who have the 5.4 with over 150k and still running A-1.

Personally, I like the diesel over the gas because fuel economy is a big issue. Why not buy a stock truck and do the work yourself though. Was the work for these trucks done by reputable shops or individuals? With a lot of suspension work and other detailed mods, I'd be leary if someone was using there truck as a guinea pig for a first time learning session...

Niether of these trucks are useful for towing or for fuel mileage. Too much money to four wheel and destroy too much fuel for daily driver so I would buy the one I thought would look best sitting in the driveway.

I would like to know what is a useful towing truck is to you? He might have enough money to put fuel in her truck and actually drive it. I for one need a useful towing truck and that is what I have. There are some of us that do not have the luxury of only needing a F-150.

He's probably talking about how they are both lifted. If either of them have 1/2 of the aftermarket parts that are being claimed (50-70K), then that's some serious lift and tires which probably makes them useless for towing. Probably useless for offroading as well.

I was trying to think that. Thanks for your thought about the lift. And I do think you are right.

Thanks Mike.

I'd go for the V10. But both of these trucks are way overpriced.

My V10 gets 10-14. Depending on what its doing.
I take it you never owned one and your throwing wild guesses around.
