i have a 2000 ranger xlt 4x4 ext cab. i need to replace the tailgate and the site i was on listed style side and flare side. i have the bed with the small steps on the side that are i believe are fiberglass. i bought this truck used and there is nothing on the registration that designates what the bed is.

that would be the flare side.

 

As noted above you have the Flareside or Stepside as they are sometimes call. I just saw a tailgate for one on Ebay earlier today, look under Ford Ranger Splash, no reserve auction and starting at 7.99, located in Indiana. Looks like a deal if you are close

 

It's a stepside as it's fiberglass with the buldging rear fenders and the little step, also has a small box.
