Smile Mobil Delvac 1 5w-40 Esp Syn Oil

I Have Been Running Mobil 1 5w-40 Turbo Dsl Oil In My Truck These Past 12 Mon, And Was Thinking About Running The New Cj-4 Spec Mobil Delvac 1 Esp 5w-40 Syn Oil In It, Has Anyone Here Used This Oil Yet And Is It Supposedly Better Than The Mobil 1 5w-40 Ci-4 Plus Oil, In Terms Of Shear Stability And High Temp Turbo Protection Since The 6.o Does Shear Oil Faster Than The Other Diesels?
Thanks For Any Info.

I may be wrong but I think the newer oil has better "soot control" or something along those lines. Since all the new engines have so many emission controls on them, the cleaner the better.

And actually, within time, you probably wont be able to buy the old spec oil.....the new spec oil just supercedes it/replaces it.

That is correct. In fact, the new spec'd (CJ-4) M1 Turbo Diesel 5W40 is listed on their website- It just hasn't reached store shelves yet. Hopefully, there won't be much of a time lapse between the switching from CI-4+ (old) product and the new CJ-4. Although I stocked up on the old as I don't want to be without either and need an oil change. I intend to have an oil analysis performed on this interval and when I switch over to the new CJ-4 which has quite different specs including a much higher flashpoint.

In response to the OP: Go for it and let us know how it works

I found the Mobil1 5w40 Turbo Diesel CJ-4 at Auto Zone recently. Only in quarts though.
